Albert Gannon started his small plumbing and heating business in High Prairie, Alberta in 1972. The company quickly grew and Albert was on the road steady. He soon found most of his work was conducted in and around Peace River, so in 1978 Albert relocated his family and his plumbing shop to Peace River, Alberta. Albert enjoyed many busy and demanding years working in the Peace Region. In 2000, Albert decided it was time for a change and together with his sons the three of them formed AGS Mechanical Contractors Ltd. This new joint venture started where Albert left off and began to grow rapidly. In 2009, AGS built their new 8000 sq. ft. shop on Peace River’s West Hill.

In 2010, after close to 50 years in the plumbing industry, Albert felt it was time to move on and focus on his passion for farming. The company was restructured upon Albert’s retirement, with son Matt buying the bulk of the shares and stepping up as President. David retained a portion of his shares and took the role as Vice President.

Matt and David teamed up to become a strong, reliable management team with top employees. In 2014 Matt purchased the remaining shares in AGS Mechanical and has continued to build and restructure the company into a General Contracting business. AGS has a proven safety program, $5,000,000.00 of insurance coverage and over $25,000,000.00 in bonding power. With the increase volumes AGS soon outgrew their west hill location.

In 2017, AGS once again needed to expand. Matt and his wife Charla took on the design build of their new facility in the Northern Sunrise industrial park. With the professional services of Field Engineering they designed and constructed a very modern 16,000 sq. ft. fabrication shop and office facility. Some of the shop highlights are a 100’ clear spanning 10 ton crane, 120’ drive thru wash bay, plasma cutting capabilities, 200 ton CNC press break and shear. Numerous welding and fabrication tools including a welding positioner of rolling up to 40” pipe.
